The 9th of June, 2012, became a day of new IT-era! In that day in Verkhneuslonsky district of Republic of Tatarstan the Russian prime-minister Dmitry Medvedev together with President of Tatarstan Rustem Minnikhanov, Russian Minister of Communications and Press Nikolay Nikiforov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of informatization and communications of the Republic of Tatarstan Roman Shaikhutdinov lays the capsule in the foundation of the first building of the innovative satellite-city Innopolis-Kazan.

Medvedev began his speech with congratulations on the start of a new stage in the development of Kazan, Tatarstan and Russia as a whole and expressed confidence that in some years there will live and work people that will be ready to change the world. «Right now it's hard to believe with the wind blowing in this open space. But it will be a great place, I’m absolutely sure! – Said Prime Minister, - We only have to work hard and it will all come together! Long live Innopolis-Kazan!».

President of Republic of Tatarstan noticed that it is very honor to start so ambitious project in Tatarstan: «We have an experience, developing IT-cluster, talented youth and success». That’s true, because today Tatarstan is one of the leading regions in the developing of IT and technoparks and heads the most ratings in this sphere.

After congratulation speech VIP-guests get to plaster the capsule with e-message from Medvedev: «We believe that the construction of this Innopolis will give a strong boost to the rapid development of Russian companies working in the field of information technologies», the message in the time capsule says.

The city has been set up on an area of 1,200 hectares and supports a population of 155,000, including several tens of IT-professionals, their families and service staff. The city’s planning and growth model has been designed by architect Liu Thai Ker of the Singapore firm RSP-Architects.

Infrastructure of Innopolis will include all needments: kindergartens, schools, museums, malls, medical center, entertainments, Carnegie Mellon Univercity.

Author of the idea of Innopolis is Russian Minister of Communications and Press Nikolay Nikiforov. As Minister of informatization and communications of the Republic of Tatarstan in 2011 he caught necessity of changing in IT-sphere in region because of rate of growth.
